BBT Charting
At Dover Acupuncture we encourage the use of charting using the basal body temperature (BBT). Charting offers detailed information regarding the menstrual cycle. This gives insight into various medical conditions leading us to an effective treatment. Our initial goal is always to bring about an optimal menstrual cycle, thereby allowing for the best conditions for pregnancy to occur naturally.
Charting monitors the three primary fertility signs:
- BBT
- Cervical Fluid
- Cervical Position
Charting also allows you to maximize your chances of getting pregnant by giving insight to your individual cycle, particularly ovulation.
Effects of Stress
Stress has been implicated in higher rates of infertility. This is due to its effects on frequency of intercourse, ovulation irregularities, and abnormal sperm development. Stress also leads to higher rates of depression.
Studies show that acupuncture raises endorphin levels in the blood. This produces a calming effect. These endorphin levels remain elevated for some period of time after treatment.
IVF / IUI
In Vitro Fertilization / Intrauterine Insemination
A systematic review and recent meta-analysis suggested that women undergoing IVF were 65% more likely to become pregnant when they integrated acupuncture into their normal IVF treatments.
Herbal Medicine
Chinese Herbal medicine can play a key role in fertility treatment. At Dover Acupuncture we prescribe herbal medicine which allows for a stronger more precise treatment. Prescriptions are modified on a regular basis and administered according to your BBT Chart.
